Many people are sitting right next to the campfire. I mean so close they're about to burn. All their attention is on the fire and stirring the coals to keep it burning hot. The popping and hissing is all they hear. The smoke permeates their clothes and hair. The bright flames steal their night vision. If you were to go and sit next to the person by the fire, the conversation would be all about the fire and you'd eventually help to keep the fire going. Maybe even gathering wood.
Meanwhile, there are people who are far from the fire. Those people are aware of the glow from the fire yet, they are also taking in the beautiful stars, a few fluffy clouds, the moon, the smell of the forest, the sound of the night bugs, the sound of the breeze through the trees, etc.
The campfire is social media and the news.
There is much more in life to enjoy. Don't let one source steal your joy and attention to the rest of God's creation.
