What Is Omega-3 and Why It’s Important

Fish is underrepresented in the average American diet, according to a study conducted by U.S. and German researchers. The FDA recommends eight ounces of fatty fish per week, which provides us with a healthy amount of omega-3 fatty acids. But the study shows that many people don’t get enough fish to provide the necessary omega-3s. While nearly all those who participated in the study said that they believe in the benefits of a balanced diet, less than 50% of them believe their diets have the proper nutritional balance. The study results showed that the majority of the participants had blood levels of omega-3s are well below the target range. Of the 200 subjects, only 3 total were at the optimal Omega-3 Index level, highlighting the need for a balanced diet that gives us all the necessary nutrients for wellness. Astaxanthin

One key ingredient to look for in Omega-3 sources is Astaxanthin. “ Astaxanthin, used as a nutritional supplement, antioxidant and anticancer agent, prevents diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders, and also stimulates immunization”.
