Fish is underrepresented in the average American diet, according to a study conducted by U.S. and German researchers. The FDA recommends eight ounces of fatty fish per week, which provides us with a healthy amount of omega-3 fatty acids. But the study shows that many people don’t get enough fish to provide the necessary omega-3s. While nearly all those who participated in the study said that they believe in the benefits of a balanced diet, less than 50% of them believe their diets have the proper nutritional balance. The study results showed that the majority of the participants had blood levels of omega-3s are well below the target range. Of the 200 subjects, only 3 total were at the optimal Omega-3 Index level, highlighting the need for a balanced diet that gives us all the necessary nutrients for wellness. Wild fish is among the healthiest food in the world and wild Alaskan sockeye salmon is a nutrient-packed, very pure seafood alternative, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is free from pesticides and contaminates, and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, D, B6, B, E and essential amino acids. Omega-3 fatty acids help to protect heart health, reduce the risk of strokes, promote healthy skin and hair, and improve the ability to burn stored fats. Omega-3 fatty acids are called essential fatty acids, yet our bodies are unable to produce them on our own, which makes it important to consume omega-3 rich foods or supplements. According to the American Heart Association, consuming foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids is preferable, but those who may not get enough through diet alone should consult their doctors about taking a supplement. The most convenient way to harness the cariovascular benefits of wild salmon oil is to consume it as a supplement; Consumer Review suggests that a supplement should contain at least 1,500 mg of omega-3 as a daily dose. When shopping for a supplement, look for one that is made with wild Alaskan sockeye salmon oil.
Quality of Source
One thing to look for when shopping for a good fish oil is the International Fish Oil Standards Program. IFOS certification is the most stringent quality measure in the industry, surpassing the quality standards of other organizations including the World Health Organization. Something else to look for is the awarding of the Monde Selection Award.
Key Ingredients
Astaxanthin
One key ingredient to look for in Omega-3 sources is Astaxanthin. “ Astaxanthin, used as a nutritional supplement, antioxidant and anticancer agent, prevents diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders, and also stimulates immunization”.
A recent review of previous studies on Omega-3s found that supplementation may support a healthy cardiovascular system. The review of 14 randomized, controlled trials including more than 70,000 people over a period longer than six months found that those who consumed more EPA and DHA Omega-3s experienced significantly improved cardiovascular health. In another recent study of healthy women showed that Vitamin D, as found in fish such as Wild Alaskan Salmon, can support a healthy reproductive system. In the study, healthy young women were given a Vitamin D supplement or a placebo. Even after a single dose, those who took the Vitamin D showed a measurable increase of a hormone that may be linked to ovarian regulation.
VITAMIN E
Recently discovered tocotrienol Vitamin E has exhibited substantial benefits to the cardiovascular system including helping to maintain healthy blood pressure. Tocotrienols have also proven to be very effective supporters of cell health including protection from oxidation.
In the past, the majority of scientific research focused on the less-effective form of Vitamin E called alpha-tocopherols, while as little as one percent focused on the potent tocotrienol Vitamin E. However a significant shift has taken place over the last few years as a much larger portion of peer-reviewed research articles have been centered on tocotrienols. It’s becoming more clear that, at the molecular level, tocotrienols are a much more potent and effective source of Vitamin E.

When visiting with people who are fighting cancer, I often tell them to “Type into Google, tocotrienols cancer. You’ll be amazed at what you see”.
Tocotrienols
The annatto bush, an oily plant that grows in South America, is the only natural compound in the world that offers pure Tocotrienols without the accompanying Tocopherols that may limit the benefits. Furthermore, annatto Tocotrienol has the highest Tocotrienol concentrations with 150 – 300 times fewer Tocopherols than rice and palm sources. Only Kyäni Sunset™ contains annatto Tocotrienols, offering the most health benefits.
Tocotrienols (bixa orellana) are part of the Vitamin E family. Tocotrienols were originally discovered by Pennock and Whittle in 1964. In the early 1980s, Tocotrienols were shown to help maintain healthy cholesterol. Since then, Tocotrienols have been studied extensively in numerous clinical trials and are proven effective in supporting proper blood cholesterol levels in healthy individuals.

VITAMIN A (BETA-CAROTENE)
Beta-carotene is an organic compound found abundantly in plants and vegetables. A member of the carotenoids, it can be metabolized into Vitamin A, yielding many compelling health benefits. These include heart health, cell protection, and heightened immunity. This essential nutrient is also beneficial in sustaining optical health and brain function.
Beta-carotene is lipid-soluble and acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidation damage. With the addition of this powerful compound in Sunset, you’ll be giving your body more of what it needs.
VITAMIN D3
Vitamin D is one of several vitamins required for normal growth and development. This essential nutrient contributes to the absorption of calcium, which is an important process for bone development and strength. Vitamin D promotes cellular growth, boosts the immune system, and helps support proper inflammatory response. Studies have also shown that Vitamin D assists in maintaining healthy blood pressure and sustaining cardiovascular health. One unique aspect of Vitamin D is that it can be created by our bodies with the aid of sun exposure. However, studies show an alarming rate of Vitamin D deficiency in the USA. Since most Americans are not producing enough on their own, Vitamin D supplementation can provide the support and protection the body needs from this essential nutrient.

Omega-3 and Pregnancy
We have known for years that an adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA, is important for expectant mothers. Researchers presenting at the 2017 Experimental Biology meeting recently shared data regarding the typical DHA and EPA intake of pregnant women in their diet. A study of pregnant women revealed that on average they were consuming 30 mg of EPA and 59 mg of DHA naturally in their diet, which falls short of the recommendation listed in the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Kyäni Sunset was designed to contain only lipid-soluble elements, maximizing the bio-availability of these nutrients for absorption. Sunset is a proprietary combination of tocotrienols (the most potent form of vitamin E), Omega-3s derived from Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon (the purest source in the world), Beta Carotene (a natural source of Vitamin A), and the essential Vitamin D. The health benefits of tocotrienols, Omega-3, Beta Carotene, and Vitamin D are well documented by medical professionals and researchers. Kyäni Sunset offers unparalleled nutritional support to the body’s vital systems including cell health and support for the cardiovascular and immune systems. Comprised of only lipid-soluble nutrients, Sunset is intended for evening use when the body’s lipid activities are at their peak. Sunset gives the body what it needs when it needs it.
